| Kiwifruit a Superfruit |
|
Two green kiwifruits contain: Regarded as a Superfruit, green kiwifruit is also high in trace minerals, vitamins and is naturally low in sodium, fat and has a low GI (glycaemic index). It’s quite unusual for a low fat food, let alone fruit, to be a good source of vitamin E (well known for its heart health and antioxidant properties) but kiwifruit is a great low fat natural source of vitamin E. Eating kiwifruit is a sure way to get your daily intake of antioxidants to help fight the damage cause by free radicals and oxidative stress.
Gold kiwifruit is the now available too and differs from its green cousin in that it has a smooth hairless skin that is bronze in colour, a golden flesh interior and a white core with black seeds. Taste-wise, it has a sweet, uniquely tropical taste with a luscious, silky and very juicy texture that makes it a real favourite with both children and adults. Similar to the green kiwifruit, it contains many of the same vitamins and minerals but with slightly higher levels of vitamin E and folate.
Smoothies are one of the best ways to get fruit into your diet - especially for children. Try adding kiwifruit to a fruit smoothie or any refreshing drink to get a real boost that’s tasty and healthy.
