Easy-to-Grow Plants for Children
Written by Veronica Mitchell

The best way to get your children interested in gardening is to let them grow flowers and vegetables from seeds. Children can become easily discouraged, so it's important to make their first gardening experiences positive and fruitful. Get them to plant some Cosmos.

Nasturtium or Sunflower seeds in pots in the spring and as soon as any danger of frost has gone, they can be planted out into their flowering positions: all these flowers love full sun and will bloom all summer long, until the first frosts. Your children will enjoy tending them and watching them grow (especially giant sunflowers!) .

And in spring they can plant some radish seeds direct into the ground. They are very easy to grow and an added bonus is that a month later they will be ready for eating.
