I started riding at the age of 3 months and fell in love with riding there and then . I now own 8 horses all stabled at my yard it involves a lot of work care and passion . It was in 2006 that my riding really took off, My mum entered me in the French national hunter trials on my little pony Tammy. A very sweet new forest cross welsh and a little cheeky when she wants to be.
We arrived at this big completions at Fontbleau which is near Paris I was a nervous wreck. It was over 2 days and was rather hard .First of all you have to complete a obstacle course which involves jumping a difficult bounce, slaloming ,and opening and shutting a five bars gate .The second event is the presentation where the judges look at the horse and rider to see if they are smart ,clean, and tidy .The third event is the obedience where you have to make your horse stand still for 15 seconds whilst a judge plays the french horn ,cracks the hunting wipe and 40 hounds trot past you. They are very strict if your horse flinches you loose points .
Then that's is it for the first day on the second day you have the cross country ,followed by a 9 km trot through the woods and tracks, and then you have to load your horse in and out of a lorry or trailer. After that I had a horribly long wait for an hour when at last it was time for the prize giving to discover that I was third .I loved my week end there so much that the family and I went back in 2007 and came third as a team so I am officially third champion of France two years running . |
