Hello my name is Charlotte Hoare. I am a bilingual student in English and French and I am writing in etcetera for a few days because I am here on work experience .

I have really enjoyed my time here and I am just writing a little bit about what I have been doing and what I have learnt . I have learnt some exciting ,scary,and useful things:

• How to interview on the phone and face to face and I confirm that it is harder to interview someone on the phone because you can’t see them .
• How to answer the phone to a business call.
• How to use a professional publishing program that is quite complicated but once you are used to it ,it is easy.
• How to create an advert and then send it off for approval to the person in question in an internationally recognised format.
• How to be economical with the space given to me.
• How the journal is financed . How to make a sales call.
• How to clean the hard drive on the computer.
• How to take notes correctly.
• How to sell advertising space.
• How to pace myself for time and be aware about the short time you have to make the publication.
• How to use an English key board.

I would like to thank the editors for having me it was really fun and I have learnt lots of interesting and us full things that will help me later on.

We received a beautifully hand written letter from Charlotte with a request for a 3 day work experience project and frankly we put it to one side for a few days. We have no facilities to accommodate a student of any sort, or so we thought.

Charlotte subsequently rang us and we were so impressed with her manner that we invited her to join us on 22, 23 & 24 January and we are glad we did. Born and educated here Charlotte at age 14 is bilingual - and learning German too - and has the ability to undertake quite complex tasks with desk top publishing without too much problem & has writing and composition skills we found quite above average.

Charlotte took our phone calls , spoke to clients in French and English and surfed the net for news stories of her choice. Most of all she worked very well and fitted in with us. And laughed a lot. It proves the theory “She did it because she thought she could and wanted to”
Charlotte composed several pages in the printed verison of etcetera1.
